Mountain Creek Launches Afforestation Campaign to Conserve Greenery at Khao Chan Ngam Temple

Bangkok, 06 August 2013 | Mountain Creek Golf Resort and Residences recently launched an afforestation campaign to conserve the dwindling greenery surrounding Khao Chan Ngam temple in Sikhio district, Nakhon Ratchasima.

Titled ‘Grow Forest, Conserve Nature’, the campaign was organised as part of Mountain Creek’s CSR activities aimed at conserving the environment and benefiting the society at large. More than 1,600 saplings were planted in the arid areas around the temple with the help of several volunteers.

Located atop the scenic Chan Ngam Hill, Wat Khao Chan Ngam was founded by the temple abbot Prakru Prasert Rukkitsilo who once had travelled through the area and stayed overnight for meditation. He found the place to be serene and tranquil.  During his brief stay, Prakru Prasert discovered prehistoric cave paintings aged over 4,000 years in the area.  Eventually, he took steps to convert the isolated land into a tourist destination as it is today.

The afforestation campaign was led by Mountain Creek Golf Resort and Residences General Manager Khun Santi Na Rungsilpa and Sikhio Sub-district Administrative Organization (SAO) Chief Executive Khun Narong Phoomchanteuk under the supervision of the temple abbot. Volunteers who participated in the programme included students, military officers and SAO officials from Sikhio.
